The Enrichment Offerings are designed for students entering grades 2-8 who have demonstrated curiosity, interest, and self-motivation. These courses promote critical thinking through exploration of thematic units. They are two weeks long and meet two hours per day. They are designed to provide your child with a variety of experiences in the humanities and sciences. This is in keeping with the philosophy of Morgan Park Academy to educate the whole child.
Enrichment classes are not graded. Class size is limited. You can pair one of these classes with our Day Camp or Sports Camps to create a full day.

Space Camp/Star Wars - Entering Grades 2-3
Learn the major constellations of the night sky and the stories that came before them, how we use light from those stars to learn about the worlds that they harbor, and whether life may exist on those planets. Perhaps there is a Star Wars-type universe just waiting in a galaxy far, far away. Students will create their own Star Wars universe using the basics of astronomy.
Nature’s Art Box - Entering Grades 2-3
Come take a peek inside the art box that nature has given us. You will see that there is beauty in every nook and cranny of our world. One way to see the true beauty of our earth is to look with the eyes of an artist. Nature has colors and patterns that no artist could ever draw or paint nearly as well these are the gifts of our very own mother earth.
So come and explore, gather and create like our ancestors. We will mix paint like the ancients, make your own clay and weave your own trinkets. Make a one of a kind piece of art with natural dyes!
Hogwarts - Entering Grades 3-5
Attend the summer term at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry! On the first day of the term, students will be sorted into houses before making their own wands and wizard hats. Students will investigate mysterious powers in the academic areas of Potions, Care of Magical Creatures and Astronomy. Last but not least, each student will be introduced to Quidditch and will play for the Quidditch trophy and the honor of being named the Hogwarts champions.
Exploring Nature - Entering Grades 3-5
Students will investigate nature and science topics inspired by the environment of our school garden, campus, and nearby neighborhood. We will spend time outdoors whenever possible making observations, working in the garden, conducting experiments, taking photos and collecting samples. We will use resources such as books, Youtube videos, and internet sites to enrich our studies and learn more about what we have observed first hand. Our explorations will also provide inspiration and natural materials for several art projects done during the classes.
Stop-Motion Animation - Entering Grades 5-8
Have you ever dreamed of making your own stop-motion animated movie? Now's your chance! In this session, we will write a story, create a storyboard, design a miniature set, shoot photos, and use the iMovie software to create our very own short film. Be prepared to focus, be patient, and get your creative juices flowing!
The Great MPA Baking Class - Entering Grades 5-8
Campers will get to engage in lessons of baking as laid out by British baking expert, Mary Barry, learning her techniques in pastries, bread making, pies, cakes, chocolate work, and cookies. Each lesson will entail a technical challenge and a chance for bakers to show of their own creative knowledge in each category in the show-stopper challenge. Guest judges will be on hand to taste and comment on each baker’s creations of French macarons, artisan bread, Victoria sponges cakes and many other baking delights.
Courses meet for six weeks from June 26 - August 4, 8:30 to 10:30 a.m.
The Academic Program courses meet every day for six weeks. Small class size will foster a close relationship between pupil and teacher. For older students, homework is an important part of this program. At the end of the session, a written evaluation of each child’s progress will be mailed to parents.
Reading, Writing, and Mathematics – Entering grades 2-4
Reading and Writing focuses on reading comprehension, vocabulary, grammar, and written expression. Mathematics focuses on a new skill each week, building upon the basics for each grade level, including word problems, math games, and skill-building activities. (Campers need to register for all 6 weeks)
Middle School Math & English-Entering grades 5-8
Middle School Math explores Pre-algebra and problem-solving designed to develop understanding of concepts and skills in preparation for the study of algebra. This course meets for 1-hour per day and is combined with Middle School English for a 2-hour program. Middle School English focuses on the careful reading of quality literary texts. This course will help improve reading comprehension, vocabulary, grammar, and written composition. This course meets for 1-hour per day and is combined with Middle School Math for a 2-hour program.

Day Camp-Grades 2-8
Games: Learn habits of life-long fitness through lots of indoor and outdoor physical play, including water recreation.
Arts and Crafts: The Arts and Crafts class offers students hands-on opportunities to work with many different materials. Campers will learn the importance of expression through these different mediums. Let us help your campers find the artist within.
Performing Arts: Movement, music, and drama are elements of the Performing Arts Camp. Students will have fun dancing and singing while increasing their confidence, leading to more success in life.
Science Investigation: This class will allow campers to investigate many aspects of science. Enjoy simple experiments, model building, and the natural world around us.
Other Activities include: Drama & Improv, Music, and Wading Pool
Three-time USA Women's All-Around Olympic Champion gymnast and coach, Dianne Durham, and her assistant coach will be coaching your child! Ms. Durham has coached dozens of gymnasts to State, Regional, and National Championships! You can choose to enroll your child for one, two, or three, two-week sessions! You will also have the option to add Day Camp from 12:30-3 p.m. Students must be toilet-trained and three years old by May 1.

Ms. Durham has coached dozens of gymnasts to State, Regional, and National Championships! You can choose to enroll your child for one, two, or three, two-week sessions! You will also have the option to add Day Camp from 10:30 a.m.-1 p.m.
Gymnastics Camp with Day Camp--2nd-8th grade
This option is only available for 2nd-8th grade students. 2nd and 3rd grade students would attend Gymnastics Camp from 10:30-12:30, followed by Day Camp from 12:30-3 p.m. 4th-8th grade students would attend Day Camp from 10:30-1, followed by Gymnastics Camp from 1-3 p.m.
Sports Camp - Grades 3-8
Baseball Camp-Session 1: June 26-July 7 10:30am-3pm M-F
Entering grades 3-8
The MPA Baseball Camp is a great place for any young baseball player who is looking to improve his/her skills, work hard, make new friends and have fun. Campers will be placed into age appropriate groups and will work on all facets of the game including hitting, fielding, base-running, and pitching. Detailed instruction will be provided in all aspects of the game. The Academy offers players a well-maintained field and two indoor hitting cages.
